Some specifications of the engine:
- two stroke
- two cylinder
- bore 60.3 mm
- stroke 47.62 mm
- "Eas-A-Matic" pull starter
- weight 30 kg
The engine is in an overall great condition. Only real problem was that when I removed the head, three out of ten head bolts snapped right off so I had to drill them out and tap new holes to the second oversize. Last picture shows new bolts.
Got it from the original owner. Even got the original owners manual!
HI! Did you happen to scan the owners manual and have a copy of it that you could email me??
ReplyDeletePlease let me join in regarding the above request for owners manual information. While I have been boating since 1957 I have never had any experience with a two stroke engine and now find one in my garage waiting to be put to work on a 14 foot aluminum boat. Any assistance would be appreciated.
ReplyDeleteGreetings, I just picked up this exact motor for my 16 ft starcraft to use on smaller ponds and lakes.
ReplyDeleteI have the identical motor with short shaft. Had the same problem with head bolts snapping. Also think the pistons are rusted in place. If anyone is interested in picking it up for parts or to work on let me know.
ReplyDeleteI just picked up the same 10302e unit. It was scary looking, but compression was 80-79 with no indication of piston slap or worn bearings, so it followed me home. Tore the scary looking unit down (with exception of the power head) and did a refurb on the entire motor. Some parts are N/A but. . . Now she looks like it just came off the showroom floor, well, almost. Runs like a swiss watch. I might be interested in
ReplyDeleteSteveTrego's unit for extra parts.
I live in Pottstown PA area. I promise you it ran like a champ before I treated it as a 4 stoke motor. I'm not sure if it's worth investing to put a new piston in it but as parts it should save you. I just hate to see a classic go in the trash. If you want it you can email me at stevetrego@gmail.com.
